King’s coronation bank holiday arrangements confirmed
02 March 2023
Arrangements to allow colleagues the day off on Monday 8 May to mark His Majesty King Charles III’s coronation have been confirmed.
The additional bank holiday was announced nationally to celebrate HM The King’s coronation, which takes place on Saturday 6 May.
Leave allowances have now been updated in Employee Self Service. Leave calculator spreadsheets on the HR web pages also now reflect the additional holiday.
Those not required to work on this day will receive it as a mandatory holiday and cannot swap it for another date. If this applies to you, your annual leave calendar has already been updated and no further action is required.
Colleagues required to work on this day will be informed by their line manager, or Head of School/Function. If this applies to you, your Head of School/Function will confirm what local arrangements will apply in your area so that you can still benefit from the additional annual leave.
Colleagues who had already booked Monday 8 May as annual leave have had a credit applied to their leave balance.
The bank holiday will be applied pro rata. Those colleagues who would not normally work on Monday 8 May will receive a pro rata credit to their annual leave balance for the leave year.
Campus Jobs workers and other staff that receive holiday pay are not eligible to any additional payments in lieu of the bank holiday.
