Help shape Blackboard Learn Ultra rollout
03 April 2023
Blackboard users are being invited to apply to help shape the rollout of a new, improved version of Blackboard.
Blackboard Learn is the virtual learning platform used extensively by our students, academic colleagues and professional staff to support and enable teaching and learning. It provides a central hub for materials, resources and learning activities, and for assessment submission, marking and feedback.
The current version is no longer being developed and so the Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) and DTS teams are leading a project to implement a new version called Blackboard Learn Ultra.
This will build on the introduction of Ultra Base Navigation (UBN) in 2021. It will introduce a new ‘look and feel’ and new features and functionality in Courses and Organisations.
An email recently went out to all Blackboard users, introducing and explaining the project.
Become a Champion
The TEL team is now looking for colleagues across the university to work with us and apply to become a Champion.
You might have existing experience using Blackboard or be an enthusiastic beginner with an interest in pedagogy and technological innovation. As a Champion, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Investigate and learn more about Blackboard Learn Ultra.
- Share ideas, feed in to and inform implementation.
- Network with fellow Champions and share your experiences.
TEL colleagues are keen to work with a diverse group of colleagues and particularly encourage applicants from the university’s Diversity and Inclusion staff networks.
The closing date for applications is Friday 28th April 2023 and there is a short application form to complete.
For further information and to apply, please visit our Blackboard Learn Ultra Champions page.
What’s happening next with the project?
Further information about the project timeline and what this means for colleagues involved with Blackboard will follow over the next few months.
TEL will be talking to colleagues across the University and providing regular updates through the project website.
As well as the opportunity to become a Champion, colleagues will be able to take advantage of a range of staff development and support.
Who do I contact?
