New ways to engage with the Staff Disability+ Network
21 June 2023
The Staff Disability+ Network is asking colleagues what they want from the network as it announces a summer get together and new Microsoft Teams channels.
The Network is an inclusive support group for all staff with physical and neurological disabilities, and non-disabled staff who are allies. As well as offering peer support, it works closely with the University to represent the needs of staff with disabilities and promote an inclusive working environment.
Recent engagement includes allyship training, the development of a line managers' toolkit, and working with HR to review Tailored Adjustments Plan.
Hybrid summer get together
The Staff Disability+ Network is meeting for a summer social on Tuesday 4 July (11:00-13:00).
As well as the chance to chat with fellow Network members and allies, colleagues can find out more about the work of the network, future plans, and to share views on what’s happening at the University to offer support and resources for colleagues with disabilities.
For those who want to meet in person – and enjoy a free ice cream – come along to G44 Edith Morley.
For those who prefer to attend online, please join using the MS Teams link on the day.
See the event page for more details.
New Teams channels
The dedicated Microsoft Teams space for the Network has been updated, with new channels focussed on specific topics, overseen by colleagues who will lead their areas.
- Mental health and wellbeing: Tasha Easton
- Chronic ill health: Bethan Jones
- Physical disabilities: James Church and Charlotte Maitland-Smith
- Neurodiversity: Dave Hallam & Kathryn Whittington
- Carers: Louise Thomas-Burt and Anne Delauzun
Survey: what do you want from your network?
Colleagues are invited to share their views on the Network and the University’s support for staff with disabilities by completing an online survey by Monday 10 July. If you’d prefer, you can email the Network co-chair Yota Dimitriadi to arrange a conversation.
