Call for contributors: LGBT+ allyship resources
01 June 2023
A new resource for staff on how to be an effective LGBT+ ally is in development, and the editorial team is seeking contributors to shape the guidance.
The guide from the Diversity & Inclusion team and LGBT+ Staff Network will both support colleagues looking to start their allyship journey, and provide an up-to-date collection of resources for those who are already allies of LGBT+ staff and students.
The resource is set to include:
- Staff and student views on allyship
- Case studies or stories of allyship in action, such as in the university classroom and in other university contexts
- Practical advice and tips on how to be an effective ally in higher education contexts
- Information on services and support for LGBT+ staff and students
Expressions of interest
The editorial team needs your help to make this resource a reality! A wide variety of contributions are sought, including (but not limited to) case studies, personal stories, creative pieces, and practical guidance. The editors also seek colleagues who are interested in being interviewed for the resource.
It is hoped the resource will authentically represent the diversity of the University’s community, so other views and ideas on what should be included are welcomed by the project team.
If you are interested in contributing to this resource supporting LGBT+ allyship at the University, please get in touch with Michael Kilmister at m.kilmister@reading.ac.uk by Friday 30 June 2023. In your email, please indicate how you would like to be involved.
