Globes shortlist revealed after University art trail poll
30 June 2023
More than 200 colleagues joined hundreds of others in voting for their favourite globe artwork as the University of Reading makes progress with a project to reflect the legacy of the transatlantic slave trade.
The University has been given the opportunity to become the custodian to a series of globes from The World Reimagined initiative, which will form a multi-campus outdoor art trail.
Eight designs have now been selected after a recent poll involving students, staff, alumni and local people.
The most popular designs can now be revealed, and will be the University’s top targets to populate the trail.
Fundraisers are now asking new supporters to join the project by donating towards the costs of the globes.
With two weeks left to donate, check out progress towards our funding goal and join the University of Reading globe trail project.
Donations will go towards purchasing the globes, paying for installation, signs and information, and an audio guide to help visitors learn about the artworks.
Installation for the globes will begin in the autumn and once complete will see a full launch of the trail with all donors invited to attend an exclusive pre-launch event.
