Open call for new short online courses
10 July 2023
The Online Courses team welcomes expressions of interest from academic experts and professional services colleagues in student facing roles, who would like to create a short online course to add to the University’s highly successful Programme of FutureLearn courses.
Our award-winning courses (approximately 4-12 hours of learning) are free to join for anyone around the world with a suitable digital device and internet connection and have reached more than 1.5 million people from over 190 countries since October 2013.
Sharing our expertise in online learning design and insights gained from producing more than 45 public facing courses, the Online Courses team works collaboratively with academic experts and students throughout the University, as well as prestigious external partners such as the British Council, EIT Food and the Royal Meteorological Society.
Designed to reach new audiences, our online courses provide a window into the wealth of subjects on offer at Reading, whilst retaining the high quality expected of a world-class university.
In addition to the planned programme of Online Courses, the team estimates there is capacity to develop:
- 2-3 courses for launch in academic year 2024/2025.
- additional courses for launch from academic year 2025/2026 onwards.
Expressions of Interest
If you’d like to submit an idea for a new course, please fill in an Expression of Interest form by Monday 4 September.
A guidance document is available to help colleagues with their submissions.
