Head of School, Humanities - apply now
24 July 2023
Internal applications are invited for the role of Head of School of Humanities as the University seeks to fill the post.
Professor Gail Marshall was named interim Head of School earlier this year after a recruitment process was completed in January without an appointment being made.
The previous Head of School, Professor Helen Parish, left the University for a new role in March 2023.
About the role
The post is now open for applications from internal applicants only, either from colleagues within Humanities or across the University who are keen to develop their careers further by taking on an academic leadership and managerial role at the University.
The post is on a six-year fixed term basis, starting in the Autumn term 2023/24.
The Head of School is responsible for providing the School’s academic leadership, and also contributes to the broader leadership of the University.
How to apply
To apply, and to read the job description and person specification for the role, visit the Head of School – Humanities internal online advert.
You will be asked to enter your personal details, submit a statement of interest and suitability (1,000 words max) and attach a copy of your CV.
Applications must be received by 23:59 on Wednesday 16 August 2023.
Informal enquiries are welcome and should be addressed to Professor Mark Fellowes, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic Planning & Resource).
The University is committed to having a diverse and inclusive workforce and welcomes applications where a flexible working pattern and/or a job share is proposed to undertake the role as a job share.
Specifically, we welcome applications where it is proposed to take up the role as half of a job share (and no indication is needed as to who the other half might be). We also welcome coordinated applications from two separate members of staff proposing to undertake the role as a job share.
