Bridges to close for repairs on Whiteknights Lake

Repair work on two bridges over Whiteknights lake will begin this August.
Work will be carried out to Black Bridge, the northernmost bridge leading to the Students' Union, and to the Weir bridge, close to Friends' Bridge at the south end of the lake.
These bridges will be closed on the following dates:
- Black Bridge - 1-16 August 2023
Work to replace gates and corroding handrail, treat the sleepers and fill potholes in access path. - Weir bridge - 17 August-11 September 2023
Work to repair the weir and damaged overflow, repaint the handrail and fill potholes on path.
Signage and diversions will be in place. Friends Bridge' will remain open throughout.
The two parking bays on the corner of Hopkins Drive will be closed during this period as this area will be used by the contractor carrying out the work.
The path from there down to Friends' Bridge will be used as an access route by the contractor but will remain open.
