VC financial update - watch again
18 July 2023
In the latest all-staff talk, Vice-Chancellor Robert Van de Noort provided an update on the University’s approach to addressing current financial challenges.
The talk followed a meeting of the University Council on 3 July, at which Council approved proposals from UEB for making savings and generating additional income through student recruitment.
The update, delivered on Wednesday 12 July, included details on savings and income generation targets over the next five years, student recruitment targets, and the planned Directorates structure to simplify Professional Services Functions and make these work more efficiently.
Discussions have begun with Heads of Schools over increased student recruitment targets, while a Professional Services Oversight Group has been set up to oversee the Professional Services changes. This is part of work to embed change management best practice and consider the impacts of the proposed changes on staff and students at all stages of the process.
The main themes from your questions from the staff talk have been added to the list of FAQs on our financial response information webpages.
These pages feature more details about the University’s financial position, an outline of the agreed measures to address the challenges, a timeline, and support available for colleagues.
The next all staff talk will take place in September 2023, as the new academic year gets underway.
