New ideas for a new year
03 January 2023
Welcome back to the University, and a very happy new year to all colleagues.
A new year can be a focal point for change and new experiences, so why not remind yourself of the wellbeing support and development opportunities available to staff at Reading, or try something new in 2023?
Here are some ideas to get you started:
- Sign up for Coffee with a Colleague and get to know someone new on campus.
- Boost your personal and professional development with a UoR Learn course. Courses include Bi inclusion training, Financial wellbeing and Boost your self-motivation, and there are plenty of other training and development options available. You could also consider an apprenticeship.
- Join one of the Diversity and Inclusion Staff Networks to share your experiences with colleagues, for support and advice, and to champion diversity and inclusion at the University.
- Make a green resolution for 2023 to support our sustainability commitments - look out for more information on the Staff Portal in the coming weeks.
January can be a difficult month for some, but a number of support services are on hand for staff:
- The confidential Employee Assistance Programme, available 24/7.
- Our staff wellbeing pages offer advice on dealing with common stressors and triggers, improving mental wellbeing.
- Information on healthy eating, and the impact of food on our mood, and exercise for those who have made this their new year's resolution.
- Cost of living advice is also featured, to add to other support such as cheaper meals for colleagues on campus.
