Watch all-staff session on inclusive teaching
26 January 2023
Questioning your usual teaching methods, consulting students on their needs and frustrations, and making use of a wealth of available resources were among the tips featured in January’s all-staff session on inclusive teaching and learning.
The session on Wednesday 25 January featured two members of teaching staff, who shared their experiences of successfully making their teaching more accessible and inclusive to students.
Colleagues in CQSD and DTS outlined the support available to help both lecturers and non-teaching staff make small changes that will benefit others.
Attendees also got an overview of progress the University has made on making all teaching more inclusive, such as Decolonising the Curriculum resources published last autumn, and targets set to reduce our ethnicity and disability awarding gaps.
The discussion was led by Professor Peter Miskell, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education & Student Experience). He was joined by:
- Dr Allán Laville (Dean for Diversity & Inclusion)
- Dr Michael Kilmister (Academic Developer, CQSD)
- Dr Charlotte Newey (Lecturer and Department T&L Director, Department of Philosophy)
- Dr Amanda Millmore (Associate Professor, School of Law)
- Dr Tharindu Liyanagunawardena (Digital Accessibility Officer, DTS)
A recording of the session in full is available in this article.
