Event to recognise community and campus volunteers
15 February 2023
Volunteers are set to be recognised for their hard work and dedication at a new University event, with nominations open now.
The Celebration of Volunteering will bring together colleagues, students, alumni and community partners to reward, showcase and celebrate those who have given up their time to make a difference on campus and in our local community.
You can make nominations in six award categories:
- RUSU Fundraiser of the Year
- RUSU Community Project of the Year
- RUSU Student Project of the Year
- Staff Volunteer of the Year (on and off campus)
- Student Volunteer of the Year (on and off campus)
- Alumni and Supporter Volunteer of the Year
Nominations for these awards have been extended and are now are open until midnight on Sunday 5 March. You can nominate yourself or someone else via this form.
Celebration event
The event, which takes place on Thursday 27 April, will recognise all forms of volunteering. For colleagues this could include: graduation, Open Days, Visit Days, one off projects and volunteering in your personal time.
The event will also include an exhibition and series of videos showcasing the variety of interesting volunteering opportunities that colleagues, students and alumni are involved in.
The event is supported by funding from the Endowment Fund, following a successful proposal at a monthly VC Surgery.
Engaging with our Reading community
The Celebration of Volunteering is just one way in which the University and RUSU are working in a more coordinated way to meet the strategic aspirations of being a more engaged University and creating a better sense of community.
There is a core group of colleagues organising the event from across the University. If you run a volunteering scheme or are interested in getting more closely involved we would love to hear from you.
