Asylum Monologues: a rehearsed reading by Ice & Fire
Wednesday 25 January, Palmer 107 - 15:00 – 16:30
Unique and personal experiences of people who have fled persecution due to their sexual orientation or gender identity will be presented by actors in a warm-up event for LGBT+ History Month.
Colleagues and students are invited to the Asylum Monologues event by Ice & Fire, a drama group that tells human rights stories through performance.
The actors will re-enact real interviews with asylum seekers about seeking refuge and the UK’s asylum system.
The readings will offer an insight into prejudices faced by LGBT+ people around the world, and how society and individual attitudes must change.
Network social
The event will be followed by an LGBT+ Staff Network social from 16:30.
Network co-chair Dr Ruvi Ziegler and Dr Allán Laville, Dean for Diversity and Inclusion, will give an update on the Network’s activities and look ahead to events during LGBT+ History Month.
No pre-registration is required for either event; just turn up.
