New Head of School in place for Humanities
06 February 2023
Professor Gail Marshall has been named interim Head of School of Humanities while a permanent appointment is considered.
Professor Marshall will take up the role alongside her position as Head of School for Literature and Languages for the remainder of the 2022/23 academic year.
A recent recruitment process to replace outgoing Head of School Professor Helen Parish was completed in January without an appointment being made.
Professor Mark Fellowes, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic Planning and Resource), said: “We are grateful to Gail for agreeing to take up this role and for the interest expressed in the position.
“This is an important role at the University, overseeing a diverse portfolio of subjects and research. Having Gail’s proven leadership in place for the next few months will allow us time to properly consider a long-term appointment.”
