Supporting mid-career researchers - share your view
07 February 2023
Calling all mid-career researchers! The University Committee for Research and Innovation (UCRI) wants to hear from you to help inform plans to provide better support.
UCRI has commissioned a study to explore more deeply the lived experience of mid-career researchers at Reading, with a view to understanding the barriers and enablers they encounter and to gather ideas for senior leaders to implement.
The research is being led by Professors Carola Hillenbrand and Kevin Money, with the support of Dr Samuel Lawal – all from Henley Business School.
Who can take part?
Mid-career researchers from any discipline.
What will they be asked to do?
Focus groups of 4-8 mid-career researchers will be formed, in which participants can share lived experiences of conducting research at the University.
This will include identifying barriers and enablers to doing research, and sharing ideas for better supporting mid-career researchers in the future.
Each session will run for one hour. Participation is voluntary and confidentiality and anonymity of participants will be maintained.
Get involved
To take part, please send your name, research division and career stage to Elisha Bird at researchdeansoffice@reading.ac.uk by 12:00 on Monday 20 February 2023.
Elisha will share the names of participants with the research team and help set up the focus groups, but after that the Research Deans’ Office will leave all aspects of the research to the research team.
