University Librarian Stuart Hunt to depart
08 August 2023
University Librarian Stuart Hunt is leaving Reading on 30 November 2023 to take up a new role at Durham University as Director of Library Services and Collections and University Librarian.
Stuart took up the role of Director of University Library & Collections Services (ULCS) at Reading five years ago, and in that time has had a critical role in creating a sustainable base for Digital Humanities at the University, including the extensive Digital Humanities Hub. He has also contributed to range of committees and boards covering research, teaching and learning, estates and more.
Stuart said: “I have truly enjoyed my role at Reading. I would like to thank the skilled and passionate teams in UCLS for all the work we have done together to enhance and develop the University’s core mission of teaching, learning and research.
“It was a particular highlight to see the reopening of our refurbished Library in 2020, allowing us to cater better for colleagues and students as a vibrant focal point and destination of choice of the Whiteknights campus.”
Vice-Chancellor Robert Van de Noort said: “I wish Stuart the very best for his role at Durham. Our libraries and collections are at the very heart of educational and research life at the University, and I’d particularly like to thank Stuart for guiding the services through the significant challenges of the Covid pandemic, continuing to provide critical resources to our students and researchers.
“Stuart’s work in Digital Humanities will also have a long-lasting legacy, enhancing the quality of research at Reading and promoting innovation through digital tools, methodologies, and engagement with developments in Digital Humanities as a field.”
