Keep our website clear for Clearing
07 August 2023
Website editors are being asked to help the University’s Clearing campaign by not making changes to their pages on the busiest days (16-18 August).
The busiest time for the University during Clearing is the days around A-Level results day, which this year is Thursday 17 August.
With prospective students needing the most up to date information about available Clearing programmes, Marketing teams will have priority to our Sitecore content system. This will help ensure that our systems can cope with the extra traffic and page changes.
Colleagues not involved in the Clearing campaign are therefore asked to plan ahead and check in their pages before Wednesday 16 August.
If an urgent change cannot wait until after the busy period, please contact dts@reading.ac.uk and content@reading.ac.uk for advice.
What is Clearing?
Clearing is a way for prospective students to apply to the University after the usual January UCAS deadline, whether as a new application or because their exam results weren’t as expected.
Clearing opened on 30 June this year, but A-Level results in August is when interest in our Clearing offer really increases.
It’s an important time in the student recruitment cycle, with thousands of students looking to secure a place for the new term. A strong Clearing intake is a boost for the University and our plans for growth in student numbers to improve our financial position.
