Research culture survey: Academic colleagues' views sought
04 May 2023
Academic colleagues working in research can now have their say about the culture of research at the University.
An independent survey, sponsored by the University Committee for Research and Innovation (UCRI), is now open as part of ongoing work to evaluate and improve the research culture at Reading.
The University aims to collectively nurture an institutional research culture that is supportive, collaborative, ambitious, fair, inclusive and excellent.
The survey is led by colleagues at Henley Business School and follows a series of focus group discussions held in the summer of 2022 about the University’s research culture. The survey also builds on existing work conducted at the Universities of St Andrew’s and Glasgow.
While the survey is sponsored by UCRI, it is being conducted independently and in ways that ensure the confidentiality and anonymity of participants.
Outputs of the survey will be collated, summarised, and presented to senior leaders at the University of Reading. Insights will be used by senior leaders at the University of Reading in seeking to improve the research culture.
How to take part
If you are a member of academic or research staff, including PDRAs, please respond by filling in the online survey.
If you are in professional services a dedicated link will follow in the coming weeks.
The survey should take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Participation is voluntary, and confidentiality and anonymity of participants will be maintained.
The closing date for the survey is 26 May 2023.
