Her Majesty The Queen: State funeral working arrangements
14 September 2022
Further information has been issued on working arrangements at the University on Monday 19 September, the day of Her Majesty The Queen’s state funeral, which has been declared a Bank Holiday.
For those colleagues who are required to work on Monday 19 September:
Line managers, Heads of School and Heads of Function have already spoken with colleagues who are required to work on Monday 19 September. If this applies to you, you do not need to contact HR as Heads of Schools and Heads of Function will be doing so for all members of their team collectively.
These colleagues will have an additional day credited to their annual leave balance for the new annual leave year (1 October 2022 - 30 September 2023) although it can be booked before then. Until HR has received and processed lists from Heads of Schools and Functions, Monday 19 September will appear as a bank holiday on leave calendars.
For those colleagues who will not be working on Monday 19 September:
All colleagues have had their leave calendars updated to reflect that Monday 19 September is a bank holiday.
The bank holiday is not optional. Those colleagues who have not been asked to work by their Head of School or Head of Function, cannot choose to work.
For the 300+ colleagues who had booked annual leave for Monday 19 September, a day of annual leave will be reimbursed onto their leave balance.
Additional Information:
- The bank holiday will be applied pro rata. Those colleagues who would not normally work on Monday 19 September will receive a pro rata credit to their annual leave balance for the leave year.
- Campus Jobs workers and other staff that receive holiday pay are not eligible to any additional payments in lieu of the bank holiday.
- Adjustments will be made to colleagues’ leave calendars and leave balances by HR as quickly as possible, however it may take some weeks for this to be completed for everyone. Please allow until 19 October before raising any queries related to the update to leave balances.
