Students can borrow more books, for longer
01 September 2022
It's important that the University Library remains adaptive to the demand for resources, and the following changes are a result of analysis of circulation data and a move to a more responsive purchasing procedure for popular items:
- loan allowances for undergraduates, taught postgraduates and Associate Members have been increased to 25 items
- the standard loan period has been increased to 6 weeks (subject to recall)
- all overnight loan items have been made standard loans (except for a few in demand items which have been made non-loan to ensure equity of access)
- no more overdue fines (EXCEPT for overdue recalls).
If all copies of an item are on loan, students should place a hold to ensure that the item is recalled. Multiple holds being placed on an item will automatically alert the Library’s Collections team to the increased demand for an item, which will in turn prioritise the purchase of further copies, if available.
