NTF and CATE Expressions of interest open
22 September 2022
The Expression of Interest schemes for the National Teaching Fellowship Scheme (NTFS) and Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE) are now open for applications from colleagues who wish to be considered as one of the University’s nominees in 2023.
The NTFS and CATE are prestigious national schemes run by Advance HE. The NTFS celebrates and rewards outstanding individual impact on student outcomes and the teaching profession in higher education, whilst the CATE scheme recognises and rewards collaborative work that has had a demonstrable impact on teaching and learning. The University will select up to three nominees to go forward to the national NTF scheme and one team to go forward to the national CATE scheme this year. Nominees will then receive support from an appropriate mentor in preparing their submission to Advance HE.
You can read about our 2022 NTFs in this news article. Reflecting on her experience of applying, recently-awarded NTF Amanda Millmore commented, “The NTF application process is an opportunity to reflect upon what you have achieved and also helps you to identify your values and underpinning motivations and principles in your teaching. Crafting the application is time consuming (do not underestimate this) and at times exhausting, but it is an enlightening and reflective experience. The support from colleagues across the University is immense, so if you decide to put yourself forward, know that you will have wise counsel by your side, cheerleading, advising and helping you along the way. Remember, there is no "right time" to do these things, so give it a go.”
The closing date for the NTF Expression of Interest scheme is 17:00 on Monday 24 October 2022 and the closing date for the CATE Expression of Interest scheme is 17:00 on Monday 31 October 2022.
