Reading to host renowned conference
24 October 2022
The Development Studies Association's (DSA) renowned conference is being organised and hosted by colleagues from the Global Development Research Division (GDRD) and will invite over 500 participants from across the globe to campus to discuss and debate new research, approaches and ideas.
The theme of the conference, which runs from 28-30 June 2023, is ‘Crisis in the Anthropocene: Rethinking connection and agency for development’, which will discuss how human activity has become a dominant force shaping the global environment, but also how the natural world is increasingly impacting on, and interacting with, existing inequalities, threatening significant reversals to development.
The conference will provide an opportunity to reflect on what these processes mean for how we live, work and cooperate, how we can respond to new and emerging global challenges, and what Anthropocene thinking adds or detracts from action, policy and practice.
The Call for Panels for the conference is open from 10 October until 21 November. Submissions are encouraged from a diverse range of convenors from across a wide range of disciplines.
Dr Alex Arnall (GDRD Lead) is leading two events where you can find out more about the DSA, the conference theme, and how to get involved.
