Strike dates announced by UCU
09 November 2022
Three days of strike action have been announced for later this month by the University and College Union (UCU), following last month’s UCU national ballot result.
The strike dates for Reading, in relation to the dispute over pension reform, are 24, 25 and 30 November.
The UCU has also announced that continuous Action Short of Strike (ASOS) will begin from 23 November.
Information and what to do
Further information and copies of previous communications related to the industrial action are available on the Staff Portal along with updated FAQs.
In particular, colleagues should note the requirement to notify the University if they participated in the industrial action using the online Strike Notification Form following each period of action.
Minimising impact on students
While the University acknowledges the right to take part in industrial action, we are also committed to protecting the quality and value of our students’ learning experience.
We are writing to students to inform them of the dates of strike action and outline how we will seek to minimise the impact on their studies.
Information and FAQs for students are available on Essentials.
Colleagues with further questions or concerns can contact Claire Rolstone, Interim Director of HR, at c.rolstone@reading.ac.uk.
An email has been sent to all students with information about the strike dates announcement.
