Global citizenship modules available to all
08 November 2022
The University of Reading intends for its graduates to leave with more than just subject knowledge and skills. Graduates should also possess qualities based on the core values of the University.
These are captured in the four graduate attributes of the Curriculum framework. One of these is a global and future facing outlook.
To support schools in building a global outlook into their programmes the University of Reading’s International Study and Language Institute (ISLI) has it’s Global Graduates programme. The programme currently has three 20 credit modules with a fourth in development.
The two main modules are Intercultural Competence and Communication (IL1GICC & IL2GICC) and Modern Britain (IL1GMB & IL2GMB), which are available to Part 1, Part 2 and Study Abroad students.
The new Global Graduates Programme Coordinator is Dr Lucy Watson and she is very keen to hear from schools who are looking to incorporate intercultural competence and global citizenship into existing programmes.
In particular, as schools finalise their programme structures for the 2024/25 semesters Lucy would like to encourage schools to make use of these Global Graduate modules or contact her about other possibilities.
Lucy will also be holding a Teams session on Wednesday Nov 9 at 13:00 to explain a bit more about the modules, the Global Graduates programme generally and to answer any questions.
To receive and invite to join the Teams session please email l.a.watson@reading.ac.uk.
