Darren Browne, Commercial Director, to leave University

Our Commercial Director, Darren Browne, will be leaving the university on 1 April 2022. 

Darren joined the University in April 2019 and immediately brought an injection of business acumen to an area of the University’s activity that was under-developed. He has been instrumental in growing a viable commercial function that has delivered a significant financial return to the University. 

Notable achievements include his re-positioning of the Thames Valley Science Park, the creation of Innovation Valleys and the development of Shinfield Studios. 

During his time with the University he developed strong and effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders across national and local government.

There is no doubt that Darren’s efforts have helped raise the University’s local, national and international status, perhaps best illustrated by the subsequent attraction of a name like Disney to the TVSP.

Darren’s natural entrepreneurial instincts were always likely to be constrained within the University environment and he is now leaving to focus on his personal business interests. We are grateful for his contribution to the development of viable commercial activity at the University.
