Andrew (Andy) Fraser is joining the University on 4 April as the new Property Services Director.
He is a qualified Chartered Surveyor, and graduated in Land Management from our University.
Andy brings a broad experience of commercial and residential property, having held a number of positions with private sector real estate advisors in London and Reading.
In his most recent role with LCR Property, Andy had a focus on delivering new projects across London and the South of England.
LCR Property is a government-owned regeneration company supporting the UK Government’s drive to deliver new homes, jobs, and investment.
Announcing his appointment, Chief Financial Officer Samantha Foley said, “I am really pleased that Andy Fraser is joining us. His wide-ranging experience to date, and obvious passion for the role will be a real asset to us. I am looking forward to working with him to really leverage the assets that make us so distinct in the University sector.”
Andy said, “I am thrilled to be joining the University of Reading which has a large and diverse investment property portfolio. I look forward to working with the team to manage the commercial estate and achieve best value for the University whilst contributing to its success enabling it to maintain its world-class reputation for teaching, research, and enterprise.”
I know Reading and the local area extremely well having grown up down the road in Shinfield and attended the University as an undergraduate studying Land Management as it was at the time. I’ve worked in Reading on and off for the past 10 years and look forward to re-connecting with the local professional community.”
The Property Services team manages over 350 University lettings, from large to small, including houses, HMOs, offices, laboratories, retail, industrial open storage, farmland lettings and telecoms towers amongst other uses, and the rent collected by the department is £5m per annum and growing . Most recently they have brought new tenants to campus such as the NHS, and to TVSP, and are adding Broad Oak Place, our newly constructed staff housing on the Whiteknights campus, to their portfolio.
As Property Services Director, Andy will be a member of the Leadership Group – which includes the University Executive Board members, Heads of Schools and Functions, Teaching and Learning and Research Deans among others.
