Teaching & Learning update for 2022/23 to 2023/24
27 June 2022
Over recent weeks and months, colleagues across the University have been working to develop our Teaching & Learning Framework for 2022/23 and 2023/24. Setting out our expectations for our students’ learning experience at Reading, the Framework is based on the premise that there will be no pandemic-related restrictions on our activity.
This interim framework for the next two academic years is intended to support the University’s transition from current practice to the future approaches that will be implemented in the 2024/25 academic year under the Portfolio Review Pathway.
As a campus university, we are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive community, based in face-to-face learning on our active and vibrant campus.
Therefore, the main mode of teaching from autumn 2022 will be on-campus face-to –face, and students will be expected to engage in their programmes in-person. This means there will no longer be an option for students to study ‘at a distance’ (except for programmes that have been specifically designed and marketed as distance-learning programmes, and post-graduate research programmes/students where distance study has been approved).
As before the pandemic, we are committed to encouraging innovation in teaching approaches and technology enhanced learning. Where appropriate, we encourage colleagues to reflect on their experience and student feedback from the past two years to explore and integrate online learning activities where appropriate. These should complement face-to-face activities and have a clear benefit in enhancing the student experience and/or supporting inclusive practice.
Full guidance is available for colleagues in the published T&L Framework 2022-24.
We will be communicating with our current students about what they can expect from their campus and learning experience from the autumn 2022 in the next few days. You can find a copy of this email on Essentials.
