Annual Leave Purchase Scheme for 2022/23
01 July 2022
Additional annual leave can be purchased from today, 1 July 2022. If you wish to purchase any additional leave, you must make your request by 4 September 2022. Please note that you can only apply once, and only during the application window (1 July – 4 September 2022).
Annual Leave Purchase Scheme
As part of the proposals agreed with the UCU and the Staff Forum during Summer 2020, the University trialled an Annual Leave Purchase Scheme. The scheme was initially undertaken on a trial basis for the 2021/22 annual leave year, and following receipt of a number of applications, the trial was considered to be successful. As a result we are pleased to confirm that the offering will be available again for 2022/23.
The scheme allows colleagues to opt to purchase up to an additional 10 days of annual leave (pro rata for part-time employees) and spread the cost of doing so over a year through a deduction in their monthly salary. This year the scheme will be run via Employee Self Service.
This scheme is available to everyone on a regular annual leave scheme, who book their annual leave through the online booking system on Employee Self Service. Applications will be subject to approval from line managers.
You will not be eligible if you are not on a regular annual leave scheme (e.g casual workers), the deductions would take your pay below the level of the National Minimum Wage or the change to your salary would impact your visa eligibility.
If you are interested, please ensure you apply between now and 4 September 2022, Applications received after 4 September will not be considered, and you can only apply once during the application window.
You can find more information, including details of how to apply, on our Annual Leave Purchase Scheme page.
