Reading victorious in University Challenge quarter-finals

The University of Reading’s run continues after victory over University of Birmingham in their first quarter-final, coming from behind at one stage to triumph 170 to 135 in a closely contested match.
A big congratulations to the team, who will need to negotiate a second quarter-final to reach the semis.

The University of Reading will be appearing in tonight’s episode of University Challenge on BBC Two, going up against the University of Birmingham in the quarter finals.
In the first round the team comfortable defeated the University of Strathclyde 175 to 110, following this up with a comprehensive 245 to victory over Dundee in the second round.
Our 2021 team is made up of students:
- Michael Hutchinson (team captain) – studied for a PGCE in Maths
- Alex Skopic – studying for a Master’s in English Literature
- Margaret Ounsley – studying for a PhD in Poor Law History
- Sylvian Patrick Jesudoss – studying for a PhD in Marketing at Henley Business School
The two reserve team members are: Kira Bishop (second year Maths and Psychology) and Sarah Turvey (studying for a Master’s in Education).
