Women's Health Café launches
06 December 2022
The Women@Reading Network is pleased to launch a new monthly Women’s Health Café on Wednesday 7 December (13:00-15:00pm), in the Library Café on Whiteknights campus.
In response to Network members feedback and looking at other models successfully implemented in many other organisations, the aim of the café is to create a space for people to come together to talk, share stories and support each other.
It will also help the Network chairs to better understand the issues that colleagues are facing and help to signpost them for further support to meet their needs.
The café is primarily aimed at women, however other members of the University community are also welcome to come along to develop their awareness of women’s health topics, how they may impact women in the workplace and to enable the café community to be there for those who may be supporting a partner, family member, friend and/or work colleague with a particular health-related event.
There is no set agenda for the meetings, but the first one may cover the menopause following a recent awareness campaign by the Network on the subject.
Those who attend the December meeting can get 50% off their first drink (vouchers will be provided when you arrive at the café).
The café will take place from 13:00-15:00 in the Library Café each month on the following dates:
- Wednesday 7 December 2022
- Wednesday 4 January 2023
- Wednesday 1 February 2023
- Tuesday 7 March 2023
- Wednesday 5 April 2023
- Wednesday 3 May 2023
- Wednesday 7 June 2023
- Thursday 6 July 2023
- Wednesday 2 August 2023
The Women@Reading Network is interested in hearing from anyone who could facilitate a café at London Road or Greenlands campuses. Please contact Rachel Thorns and Eleanor Draycott, Co-Chairs of the Network, by emailing womensnetwork@reading.ac.uk.
Colleagues are also welcome to join the Women@Reading Network channel on Microsoft Teams.
