#PurpleLightUp: University joins global disability movement

A prominent University building is lit up in purple today (Friday 2 December) as the University joins an initiative to celebrate the contribution of disabled people.
Whiteknights House on Whiteknights campus has been illuminated for the #PurpleLightUp global campaign, which falls on the UN’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities, on 3 December each year.
The University is marking this one day early, while campus operations are in full swing, to increase visibility among our community.
Disability History Month
The University is currently celebrating Disability History Month (16 November-16 December).
The month recognises the history of disabled people’s struggle for equality and human rights. Its theme this year is Disability, Health and Well Being.
A range of activities have been arranged by colleagues, including our first ever Disability History Month Lecture held last week, and by RUSU.
