New IT equipment for staff as rollout begins
15 December 2022
Work to replace old laptops, computer equipment and other devices across the University is getting under way.
The Device Replacement Programme is part of a three-year rollout of new IT equipment by Digital Technology Services (DTS), with other work due to be announced to create a more modern and fit-for-purpose environment for staff and students at the University.
What to expect
DTS has begun contacting schools and functions to gather information and arrange an initial consultation.
This will be to discuss particular requirements, provide advice on equipment that could enhance digital working, and answer any questions about the programme.
Help and support will then be provided on-site to set up the new equipment and ensure a smooth transition.
Problems in the meantime?
While you wait for your equipment to be replaced, problems with current devices should be reported in the usual way by logging a ticket with the IT Service Desk:
- Online through the IT Self Service Portal
- In person, you can visit the IT Service Desk on the first floor of the main Library on a weekday (8am to 5pm) or weekend (9am to 5pm), during term time
- Email dts@reading.ac.uk
The DTS User Support team will evaluate whether slow-performing or faulty devices could be causing a problem, and recommend next steps.
