John Jack appointed to University Council
19 December 2022
The result of the election of a new member of Council representing professional services has been announced.
John Jack, a Project Manager and Senior Technician in Technical Services, has been appointed to the University Council after winning the most votes from professional services colleagues of the three candidates standing.
Mr Jack will begin his three-year term on the Council in January 2023.
The Council is the University's executive governing body and meets at least four times during each academic year. It sets the University's strategic direction, ensures compliance with statutory requirements and approves constitutional changes.
Mr Jack said: “I am delighted to be given the opportunity to represent the views of professional services on the Council.
“Colleagues in these services are crucial for successful delivery of teaching and research, and, by promoting community, striving for excellence, aiming for sustainability, and supporting engagement, they make invaluable contributions to implementation of the University’s Strategic Plan.
“I believe, therefore, that the aspirations, the concerns, and the wellbeing of professional service colleagues should be given equitable consideration in Council decision making.
“I will strive to bring the views of all Professional Services colleagues to the attention of Council with the aim of ensuring such equitable consideration.”
