Annual Leave year end - September
25 August 2022
The end of the University’s annual leave year is 30 September.
Full-time colleagues may carry over a maximum of five days (pro rata) from this annual leave year to the new one, as the exceptional arrangements from 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 won’t be continuing into 2022/2023.
If you work part time, for example, three days per week, you will only be permitted to carry over three days to the next annual leave year. If you work 18 hours, you will only be permitted to carry over 18 hours to the next leave year.
In exceptional circumstances, additional days may be carried over with the permission of the relevant Head of School or Function. In these cases, authorisation and justification should be emailed to hr@reading.ac.uk.
Please note that the University’s HR system will automatically carry over five working days (or pro –rata equivalent if this applies) on 1 October. Additional carry-over when authorised by Heads of School or Function will be manually inputted onto individual annual leave records by HR colleagues over several weeks from this date.
During this time, HR will prioritise the issue of new contracts over annual leave adjustments. Please note that all carried over leave must be used by 31 December 2022.
