Staff wellbeing support available
15 September 2021
As the start of a new academic year can be a busy time of year, it’s really important to look after yourself and take whatever steps you can to get the most from life.
We would like to remind you of some of our wellbeing support services, which are available to all University staff, and can be easily accessed online, by phone or by video call. These include:
The Wellbeing Peer Support (WPS) network
This is a network of trained staff volunteers who are a first point of contact if you are experiencing poor wellbeing, a mental health issue or emotional distress.
The WPS staff volunteers are trained to recognise the signs and symptoms of common mental health issues, and can guide you toward the right support services. They are not there to diagnose or counsel but to provide initial confidential support and information.
To contact a member of the WPS network please click on this link.
Employee Assistance Programme
The University provides an Employee Assistance Programme, which is an independent, free, confidential support and counselling service which is run by Confidential Care (CiC).
CiC gives you a place to turn for support any time of day or night, 365 days a year. Support is available for whatever issues you might be facing, including coping in a pandemic, work stress, depression, marriage and relationship issues, legal concerns, coping with change, parenting issues, financial problems, health issues and much more.
