First in-person Open Days since October 2019
22 October 2021
On Saturday 23 October and Saturday 30 October we will, for the first time since October 2019, welcome prospective students and their guests to our campus for an in-person Open Day! For those colleagues who have been on campus this week, you will have seen our welcome marquee being set-up on the Palmer Quad and over the coming days you will see more and more signs that or first big recruitment event for two years will be taking place. As ever, the aim of these events is to provide visitors with a flexible and personal experience, where they can explore our campuses, meet our students and colleagues and find out, first-hand, about the subjects and aspects of University life of most importance to them.
Ensuring that our visitors have an enjoyable experience is our priority but so too is keeping everyone, especially our many colleagues and students helping to support the running of the events, COVID safe. We have been working closely with expert colleagues from across the University to ensure the most appropriate measures are in place and that we are taking all the right steps to mitigate any potential spread of the virus. This includes, for example, staggered arrival slots, in half hourly intervals, to manage the flow of visitors at registration and across campus.
You can find our more about what’s on offer by taking a look at the Open Day website. But here’s a flavour of some of the activities:
- Central and support services exhibition in the Open Day marquee including Accommodation, Careers, Admissions, Study Abroad, Student Finance, Disability Advisory Service etc
- Varied School and Departmental activities including talks, tours and lots of opportunities to meet with lecturers and current students
- Campus tours (using our audio tour app)
- Accommodation tours
- Student Hub (in RUSU) - a marketplace showcasing a range of societies and other student-experience services e.g. Music, SportsPark
In addition to all the in-person activity, we are continuing to make the most of new initiative developed during lock down last year. Our Open Day Microsite (exclusively available to registered Open Day visitors) provides a rich array of content including recordings of subject talks as well as other pre-recorded material and further information about the University, including student testimonies, pdf brochures and films showcasing our research.
May we take this opportunity to thank the huge numbers of colleagues and students who have already and will be supporting us to deliver these events.
Thanks
The Open Day Team
