Women's Springboard Network meeting – Tuesday 12 October, 12:00-13:00
08 October 2021
Calling all Springboarders!
Have you completed the Women’s Springboard programme as part of your professional development? If you are interested in continuing to learn more about Springboard’s guiding principles, join our Women’s Springboard Network!
The Network was set up in 2019 by Cohort 12. The aim was to enable members to continue their learning, progress to new roles and provide a network of peer support from colleagues across Reading. The Network has grown in size to around 100 women and even includes colleagues from our Malaysia campus. The Network has been formally recognised by Dr Allan Laville, Dean for Diversity and Inclusion as the first D and I Professional Development Network, due to the level of activity and number of members.
We meet termly to focus on a key theme from the Springboard programme (such as goal setting and developing resilience), hear from inspirational guest speakers about their career progression and to share our personal and professional achievements.
Some feedback from our members:
“I loved the session, especially hearing (the guest speaker), Cindy Becker, talk so openly. A nice “bonus” was that one of my breakout room people was in Malaysia! Thanks ever so much for organising this, and keeping Springboard connections alive”
“I find it really inspirational hearing from other women who have been on incredible journeys!”
This year we have received Diversity and Inclusion funding to help support our meetings and plan to hold a half day refresher workshop in the Summer term.
Our next Network meeting on Tuesday 12 October, 12:00-13:00 will focus on ‘How to Embrace Failure and Use It to Succeed’ led by Lisa Costello in People Development. Sarah Marston, School Director of Teaching and Learning in the Institute of Education, will also be joining us to share her career story. If you would like to join the Network and attend this meeting, please email Springboardnetwork@reading.ac.uk.
