Alcohol-awareness campaign
15 November 2021
The University is promoting an informed and responsible approach to alcohol, as part of the Alcohol Awareness Week (15-21 November).
Students purchasing alcohol at the Co-op, either in-store or online, will be able to collect free, lined measuring glasses, interactive scratch cards and information on our ‘Be A Mate’ campaign.
Launched in partnership with RUSU, the ‘Be A Mate’ campaign encourages students to be mindful about their alcohol consumption as well as tips on how to be a mate to their friends.
By providing more information about a healthy approach to alcohol, how to make informed choices, and looking out for one another in student-focused activity, we hope to encourage more discussion around drinking here at Reading.
We encourage our community to Be A Mate. Reports of drink spiking have been in the media recently and we remain clear that spiking in any form will not be tolerated.
Vice Chancellor Professor Robert Van de Noort said: "For our students, please continue to look out for each other, familiarise yourself with the actions you can take, and tell staff straight away if you see anything suspicious. Together we will do all we can to keep each other safe."
