Recordings available of T&L Showcases
24 March 2021
Recordings of four recent and popular Teaching and Learning (T&L) Showcase events are now available on UoRLearn. Details and links to each session are available below.
Thank you to all colleagues who took the time to prepare, present and share in these sessions, and to all who attended. We look forward to seeing you for more upcoming sessions.
Take-Home Exams and Alternative Assessments
In this showcase, colleagues from across the University shared their experiences of adapting exams and assessments for an online environment, where students are required to complete them remotely. The session also covered lessons learnt from last year's exam season.
The Student Partners scheme was launched in summer 2020 and aimed to support colleagues in delivering high quality teaching, resources and student support in an online/blended learning environment. In this showcase, colleagues and their student partners from two different Schools discuss the work that has been done, benefits and challenges of the scheme, and plans for the next phase.
University Teaching Fellowship
This T&L Showcase provided information on how to apply to the University Teaching Fellowship Scheme. Several University Teaching Fellows talked about their motivation for applying and what they have gained from being a Fellow. They also provided advice for preparing an application.
Adapting Practical Subjects for the Online Environment
Over the past year we have had to rapidly adapt the ways in which we teach, support and assess students. This has been challenging in all subject areas, but in some very practical disciplines it has necessitated a complete re-think of how students can acquire and demonstrate crucial skills and knowledge. In this showcase, colleagues from different disciplines shared how they have adapted field courses, lab classes and art exhibitions for the online environment.
Upcoming showcase
Black History Month Revisited
Thursday 25 March, 16:00-17:00. Places can be booked via UoRLearn by using this link.
In October a number of events were held in honour of Black History Month, showcasing a range of exciting University projects and initiatives.
This showcase is an opportunity to find out more about work that has happened since then. A range of presenters will share updates on the work they have undertaken over the last few months as a way of continuing discussion and maintaining a focus on the topic of race in teaching and learning. A recording will be added to UoRLearn after the event has taken place, so please keep checking back for updates.
