Vice-Chancellor’s report to the Senate

Our University’s continued work on COVID-19 response – including the implications of the government’s roadmap and external engagement on related issues – Strategic Programme and the Disability and Neurodiversity Review were among the topics included in Vice-Chancellor Robert Van de Noort’s update to the Senate last month.

On COVID-19, the Vice-Chancellor said, “We continue to report very low levels of COVID within our community and report them via our COVID-19 dashboard. We continue to operate our testing centre at the SportsPark at Whiteknights campus albeit on a smaller scale with our Case Management Team following up on positive cases.”

On strategic programme, he said that “work has now begun on delivering the key elements of the proposal, which fall into four main pathways. Developments are at an early stage in planning for three of the four pathways, and more detailed reports will follow as they progress.”

Senate is the University's main academic administrative body. Reporting to the Council and meeting at least four times a year, the Senate advises on areas such as student entry, assessment and awards.

With around 100 members, the Senate comprises Deans, Heads and elected representatives of Schools, as well as professional staff and students. University Boards responsible for developments and innovation in research, teaching and learning report to the Senate.
