Changes to home test collection points on campus
25 June 2021
Lateral Flow Test collection points
As students begin to leave campus for the summer break, we are scaling back the collection points for take-home lateral flow tests (LFT).
Since the collection points were launched in May, hundreds of students and colleagues have collected the test packs, which include seven kits.
- From Friday 25 June the Park Eat collection point will be closing
- From Monday 28 June the Library Café collection point will operate on Mondays and Thursdays only between 10:00 and 16:00.
PCR research project
From Thursday 1 July, everyone who picks up a pack of kits will also be offered a single PCR test as part of a quality assurance (QA) research project for the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC).
Participants will take and register their LFT tests at home as usual, but will also have the option of taking a PCR test immediately afterwards, regardless of the result of the LFT test. Participants will then be asked to link the barcode of the PCR test with the LFT barcode using a dedicated QA Web Portal.
If the participant’s LFT test was negative, they will post their PCR swab back to the NHS lab using the pre-paid box via Royal Mail.
If the participant’s LFT was positive, they will need to register the PCR barcode on the government website before posting the swab back to the NHS lab using the pre-paid box via Royal Mail.
Completed PCR tests will need to be securely posted via a priority mail box, details of which can be found on the Royal Mail website.
Alternatively, there is a priority mail box on Whiteknights campus outside Whiteknights House.
Full instructions will be provided with the PCR tests.
You can choose not to participate in the PCR testing and collect your LFTs as normal.
Call to engage with VAC4COVID study
The University of Dundee has launched a UK-wide study called VAC4COVID to track COVID-19 vaccines. Run by MEMO Research, the study aims to provide data to support vaccine monitoring across the country.
The study is open to everyone in the UK aged 18 and over, and you can take part before or after vaccination, and also if you are not vaccinated.
More information and details of how to register are available here.
