Quarantine Support Package for students for 2021/22
28 July 2021
To help international students with some of the additional costs that they may face, we are pleased to confirm that we have put in place the University of Reading Quarantine Support Package 2021/22. This is to help students affected by the significant disruption to international travel the pandemic has caused.
This support is offered to full-time students, postgraduate and undergraduate, resident outside the UK and Republic of Ireland who are travelling to Reading for the 2021/22 academic year. This applies to both new and returning students.
It is based on the UK Government’s current travel guidance and, specifically, the requirements in relation to quarantine and mandatory COVID-19 testing.
The package consists of two separate sources of financial assistance for eligible students:
- Quarantine hotel costs: students will have the full costs of undertaking 10 full days of ‘managed quarantine’ in hotel accommodation (currently £1,750) if arriving from a country on the UK Government’s red list.
- Travel COVID-19 tests: the University will contribute to the cost of up the three COVID-19 tests undertaken upon arrival in the UK up to a limit of £70 per test (£210 in total), if arriving from a country on the green or amber list.
We look forward to welcoming our new and returning international students back on campus soon.
