Switching off lights and equipment on campus
11 February 2021
With many of us working remotely, it's easy to think that the University's energy bills must be a fraction of their normal amount. While energy use has dropped overall, many of our buildings continue to be heated for colleagues who are on campus, often with increased ventilation, and many systems also need to continue to run.
We're always working to make savings where we can, and if you are on campus, please don't forget to turn lights and other equipment off when you are leaving a space - you may well be the last person to leave.
And if you do notice energy wastage (such as lights that seem to be on permanently), please report it to energy@reading.ac.uk - or if you're using our JUMP platform, report it through "Make a suggestion" and earn yourself some green points!
