01 February 2021
Thank you to everyone who joined Vice-Chancellor Robert Van de Noort in Friday's all-staff briefing session (29 January 2020).
At the session, Robert was joined by Chief Financial Officer Samantha Foley, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) Dominik Zaum and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International) Paul Inman to reflect on what a UK outside of the European Union means for our University.
Introducing the session, Robert said that the challenges we face as an institution as complex and do not have no straight-forward or easy solutions, but by working together we can come up with solutions that work for our community.
Chief Financial Officer Samantha Foley talked about the work of the Brexit Working Group which was set up in 2019 and includes representatives from Legal, HR, Finance, Student Services, Recruitment, MCE, Research, International Study Abroad and Procurement. She said the approach of the group has been to make it easier for our institution to manage the transition, and members will continue to do so during the year.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) Dominik Zaum spoke about the impact of Brexit on Research and how deeply embedded we are in international research around major global challenges.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International) Paul Inman said about the recruitment of students from EU countries, EU student and staff mobility and opportunities for strategic partnerships and transnational education.
