‘I’m delighted to have been selected as one of the three University of Reading NTF nominees for 2022. In 2020, I was a finalist in the BPS & OUP Higher Education Psychology Teacher of the Year competition, with my area of expertise focusing on improving the student experience. Advancing inclusive Teaching & Learning is at the heart of both my roles, so to have my work recognised through the UoR NTF scheme is an exciting opportunity.’

"Being selected as one of the University's NTF nominees is both humbling and exciting in equal measure, and I am grateful for this opportunity. At the heart of my work is a focus upon working in partnership with our brilliant students and working in partnership with colleagues to improve the teaching and learning experience, but always with an eye upon fairness for students, ensuring that they are well-supported to enable them to maximise their learning and opportunities. I am conscious that I am following in the footsteps of some fantastic colleagues who have trod this path before me, and appreciate their support in helping me to represent the University and to raise the profile of teaching. "
Dr Norbert Morawetz also shared his thoughts:
“My thoughts on being nominated… Firstly… Chuffed! Secondly, we’re in Higher Education because we care: About our students, our work, about making a positive impact on the world. Everyone involved in NTF, my fellow nominees, our stellar mentors and the judges all think like that. So yes, being recognised by this community is exciting. Thirdly, through Entrepreneurship, we give our students the tools and confidence to back themselves in opportunity… to do the things they care about. Being nominated recognises this important work that we do at the Henley Centre for Entrepreneurship. Finally, is this the moment of truth where I cross the line and do one of these infamous #humbled #blessed #honoured posts on Linkedin? Not yet – first we gotta win this thing! #henleycentreforentrepreneurship #hfce #uor #ntf #loveHE #innovateyourpedagogy”

“We are delighted that our sector leading Academic Tutor System has been chosen as this year’s CATE nominee. The development and continued evolvement of ATS has been the result of a real vibrant partnership between our students and staff. Our investment in the ATS which includes our outstanding welfare team, our brilliant SDATs, all our Academic tutors and support services came to the fore in the pandemic allowing us to be agile in supporting our students’ academic, personal and professional development. The ATS is just one of our fantastic student-staff initiatives where all of our community have come together to do brilliant things!”
Each year, up to 55 individuals receive a National Teaching Fellowship and up to 15 teams are awarded a Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence. On gaining an award, NTFs and CATE winners play an ongoing role in supporting the enhancement of learning and teaching within their institution, the HE sector and further afield. The winners of this year’s NTFS and CATE will be announced at the beginning of August 2022. For further information about the schemes, visit our NTFS webpage and CATE webpage.
