Focus group invitation: University Review of Disability and Neurodiversity
15 April 2021
Following the Vice Chancellor's open letter on ‘making conversations around disability' a University-wide review on disability and neurodiversity is now underway, led by Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Elizabeth McCrum, and Dean for Diversity, Dr Allán Laville. Its findings will inform the strategic priorities of the Disability and Neurodiversity Action Plan Group and will help identify recommendations to improve the lived working experience of disabled and neurodiverse colleagues.
Between April and July 2021, we will hold various listening exercises to enable colleagues to share their views. As a first step, we will be holding a number of focus groups to explore the experiences of colleagues who consider themselves disabled or neurodiverse (including those with long-term health conditions and mental health conditions).. These sessions will be small, informal and confidential, and will discuss broad issues around experiences within the University and community (positive and negative), relationships with colleagues, and any impact on personal wellbeing and work. The meetings will be held online via Microsoft Teams.
If you would like to take part, please complete our short online invitation form and select the session you would like to attend.
We would like to provide opportunities to permit as many colleagues as possible to feed in their views - if you cannot attend any of the sessions, you can suggest an alternative date/time or request a 1:1 discussion by either selecting the relevant options within the form or by emailing Yota Dimitriadi, Co-Chair of the Staff Disability Network.
