Time 13:00 - 14:00
Location Carrington 101, Whiteknights campus
Event Information
Join Dr Jacqui Turner, Associate Professor of Modern British Political History, for a lively discussion on women’s position in British politics both past and present and discussing why women should, and need, to vote in the next election.
Dr Turner was a senior partner with the UK Parliament’s Vote100 project which celebrated the 1918 centenary of some women being granted the right to vote. She was the national curator of Astor100, the centenary celebration of the first women to enter parliament. She is an acknowledged expert on Nancy Astor, the first woman to take her seat in in the House of Commons, whose extensive papers are held here at the University of Reading.
This event is organised by the Women@Reading Staff Network for Women's History Month
