About the session
The Parent and Family Network has organised this webinar in response to feedback provided by colleagues in a survey of family leave returners in May 2023, and also a request by leadership colleagues for more guidance on supporting returners.
The session will cover:
- How the parental life transition can change priorities, affect confidence and sense of identity.
- How managers can empathetically support parents upon their return to work.
- How assumptions and biases can negatively impact career development.
- The role of flexible working in removing barriers to participation.
The Network aims to help create a culture where parents want to return to work at the University and can continue their career development alongside their parental responsibilities.
The webinar will be hosted by Returning Works, a coaching consultancy that specialises in supporting organisations to re-engage their parental returners.
It will be led by Returning Works Coach and Facilitator, Claire Burgess. Claire has a Masters in Occupational Psychology and is a qualified Coach and Coach Supervisor.
The session is designed to be inclusive, so will cover adoption leave, shared parental leave and childbirth support leave in addition to maternity leave.
The live session will include time for questions and discussion.
