Decolonising Teaching And Learning Environments Showcase
Date 18 October 2023
Time 14:00 - 15:30
Location Whiteknights campus or Online
Event Information
This hybrid event will showcase practical examples of decolonising the curriculum (DtC) and inclusive teaching and learning at the University of Reading.
The event is in support of the latest Decolonising the Curriculum Resource, which was published in September 2023. Both the event and the resource will support colleagues to cultivate learning environments and spaces in which all students feel included, valued and welcomed.
We will begin with an introduction from Professor Al Laville, Dean for Diversity and Inclusion and Co-Chair of Phase 2 Decolonising the Curriculum Working Group, followed by a series of lightning talks from colleagues on a wide range of DtC and inclusive T&L initiatives from across the University:
- Professor Hong Yang on decolonising a geography and environmental science module
- Dr Emma Pape on the power of small steps
- Dr Michael Kilmister, Victoria Grace-Bundy and Mat Haine on decolonising T&L through student partnership
All colleagues involved in teaching and learning or supporting students are welcome.
