Call for Clearing volunteers
16 May 2023
Global Recruitment and Admissions are once again recruiting volunteers from around the University to help staff the Clearing call centre this August.
Volunteers who can offer some time are needed on A-level results day - Thursday 17 August 2023 - in particular, but also on Friday 18 August 2023.
You don’t need to have any Admissions experience. Alongside returning regulars, newcomers are always welcome and will be provided with training.
Clearing is a large and complex operation which plays a vital part in the University meeting its undergraduate student recruitment targets. This is even more important then ever as growing student number is a key element in our approach to addressing current financial challenges.
Each year we have a large call centre, set up on the first floor of the University Library, staffed by people from all around the University, and supervised by Admissions staff.
Most people who get involved find it an enjoyable experience, where they can help young people on to the next stage in their lives.
The morning of results day on 17 August is expected to be the busiest time, but we still anticipate a high number of calls on the Friday too, especially in the morning.
UCAS is yet to confirm some timing details, but the call centre is expected to be open:
- Thursday 17 August - 8am-6pm
- Friday 18 August - 9am-5pm
